Utah Breaks Records and Dominates Nebraska in Vegas Bowl

Utah football closed the 2025 season in historic fashion, powering past Nebraska 44–22 in the Las Vegas Bowl to secure its first bowl win since 2017 and its first victory under head coach Morgan Scalley. The win marked Utah’s 11th of the season, finishing 11–2 and tying the program’s fourth all-time 11-win campaign.

The Utes delivered a dominant performance after a slow start, scoring 37 unanswered points and rolling up 535 total yards, including 310 on the ground. That rushing output pushed Utah’s season total to 3,462 rushing yards, breaking a 41-year-old school record set in 1984. Quarterback Devon Dampier fittingly sealed the record himself, leading the way with 148 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 310 yards and two more scores. His 458 total yards were the most ever by a Ute in a bowl game.

Utah’s offense was powered by one of the nation’s top offensive lines and a balanced group of playmakers, while the defense shut Nebraska down after the first quarter, forcing seven straight empty possessions and allowing just 40 yards across the second and third quarters. The result was Utah’s largest bowl victory margin since 2014 and a statement ending to a record-setting season.
