After a 54-day pause for the FIFA World Cup, Nashville SC showed no signs of rust, defeating Atlanta United FC 1-0 Friday night at GEODIS Park to extend its impressive unbeaten run and strengthen its hold atop the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings.
The victory marked Nashville’s fourth consecutive league win and stretched the club’s unbeaten streak to nine matches (7-0-2). It also completed the Boys in Gold’s first-ever regular season sweep of Atlanta United, continuing their recent dominance over their Southern rivals.
Shak Mohammed once again proved to be Atlanta’s biggest headache. The forward netted the match’s only goal in the 79th minute, scoring his second MLS goal of the season—and remarkably, both have come against Atlanta United. His timely finish was enough to secure all three points in front of another energized home crowd.
Defensively, Nashville continued to make GEODIS Park one of the toughest places to play in Major League Soccer. Goalkeeper Brian Schwake turned in another outstanding performance, making five crucial saves to record his league-leading eighth clean sheet of the season. Schwake has now shut out Atlanta in both meetings this year, helping anchor one of the league’s stingiest defenses.
The Boys in Gold also continued their historic home start. Nashville remains the only MLS club without a home loss this season, improving to 7-0-1 at GEODIS Park. During regular season play, they’ve outscored opponents 24-9 on their home pitch, further establishing “The Castle” as one of the league’s premier home-field advantages.
With momentum firmly back on their side, Nashville SC now turns its attention to another home matchup as CF Montréal visits GEODIS Park on Wednesday, July 22, for Pride Night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT as the Boys in Gold look to extend both their home unbeaten streak and their climb toward the Supporters’ Shield.
